Discover Saloon Restaurant

Stepping into Saloon Restaurant at 750 S 7th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147, United States, feels like entering a cozy hideaway where modern dining meets classic charm. From the moment I walked in, the inviting aroma of freshly grilled dishes and baked bread immediately set the tone. This place has that rare ability to balance a lively atmosphere with an intimate vibe, perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a solo meal without feeling rushed.

The menu at this location is nothing short of impressive. They have mastered the art of combining hearty comfort foods with sophisticated culinary twists. For instance, their smoked brisket sandwich, topped with a house-made aioli and pickled onions, is a real crowd-pleaser. I’ve tried it myself during a recent weekday lunch, and the slow-cooked tenderness of the meat paired with the tangy crunch of the pickles made every bite memorable. In addition, their seasonal salads and vegetarian options show thoughtful consideration for different dietary preferences, making it clear they aim to please every diner.

What sets this spot apart is the attention to detail in service and ambiance. The staff is consistently friendly, guiding you through the menu without rushing decisions. One afternoon, I watched a small group struggle to choose between the truffle mac and cheese and the garlic parmesan fries, and the server’s recommendation helped them land on a combination that left everyone smiling. It’s little moments like these that demonstrate the expertise and thoughtfulness behind the experience.

The location itself is conveniently nestled in the heart of Philadelphia, making it easy to pair a visit with other activities nearby. A few blocks away, there are notable art galleries and historical sites, which means you can plan an entire day around a meal here. Parking can be tight, but I found that arriving slightly earlier in the evening generally solves the issue. For those relying on public transportation, the accessibility of nearby bus and train stops adds to the overall convenience.

Reviews online consistently praise the balance of flavors and the consistent quality of dishes, and after multiple visits, I can confirm these accolades are well-earned. One detail I particularly appreciated was their attention to sourcing ingredients. Many of their dishes highlight local produce and meats, which adds freshness and supports the regional economy-a factor that subtly elevates the overall dining experience.

On a personal note, I once organized a small birthday gathering at the restaurant, and the team went above and beyond to customize the menu for the occasion. The chef even suggested pairing specific craft beers with certain appetizers, demonstrating both knowledge and a willingness to personalize experiences. This kind of service doesn’t come from casual expertise; it’s cultivated through genuine dedication and a deep understanding of the culinary world.

Whether you’re stopping in for a quick lunch, a casual dinner, or a small celebration, the atmosphere, menu, and attentive staff at this Philadelphia location make every visit feel deliberate and enjoyable. Their beverage selection, featuring both craft beers and thoughtfully curated cocktails, complements the food perfectly. During my last visit, trying a locally-inspired cocktail alongside a gourmet burger turned out to be a highlight of the evening, combining flavors in unexpected but delightful ways.

Even though the restaurant maintains high standards, there’s always room for small improvements. On particularly busy nights, waiting for a table can take longer than expected, but the quality of the meal and the environment generally make up for it. Overall, the Saloon Restaurant at 750 S 7th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147, United States, continues to earn its reputation as a place where flavor, ambiance, and thoughtful service converge seamlessly.

  • My daughter took my wife and I to Saloon to celebrate our birthdays. Pulled up and got Valet parking, steps away from the entrance. We had reservations and were seated right away. Everyone started with cocktails and then we placed the entire order. We started with Clams Pavorotti, Clams Casino, Pablano Peppers and Pear & Barratta salad for four. Absolutely wonderful! I ordered the 11 ounce Truffle Fillet and my wife had the Angel Hair Pasta with Crabmeat. Everything was good perfectly and delicious. This restaurant is a pure South Philly gem! Go Birds!!

  • The short review: this is my favorite Philly restaurant. I always neglect to get actual pictures in Saloon because the food hits the table and everyone is on it. The vibe is unmatched - authentic, unique, South Philly energy. Perfect cocktails, plus I’ve yet to be let down by any dish, whether it’s salad, seafood, filet, chicken, THE PESTO with the bread. And of course, the every time, must order, Veal Parm. I’ve brought many different friends and family to Saloon and it’s always a winning night. Never change Saloon.

  • Saloon is a Philly institution that I just got around to trying! My friends and I booked a reservation out a month in advance. We absolutely loved the ambiance - upscale, vintage, cozy yet chic… definitely feel like you’re in South Philly. We started with an appetizer sampler of grilled prawns, clams and poblano peppers. The clams stood out to us, they were delicious and flavorful. The prawns did not have a lot of meat on them and the poblano peppers weren’t hot enough (temperature wise). For $30 per person, we did not think it was worth it and would just order the clams by themselves in the future. I got the linguine with blush sauce for my main, which was simple yet great. My friends got the angel hair with lump crab meat and lobster fettucine. The angel hair was a nice summer time pasta - light and refreshing. The lobster fettucine was good but not great, and at the high price tag of $44, my friend said he would not reorder it again. None of the desserts interested us unfortunately. We found some of the options on the menu to be lackluster and wish there was more variety. We did enjoy what we had but weren’t blown away by anything. I would like to come back in the future and order a cocktail at the bar, as I do love the ambiance.

  • Had a lovely birthday dinner at Saloon. Nicky made parking super easy and was a great face to welcome us into the Saloon experience. Our waitress Kittee knew what we wanted before we did and food was incredible. Happy to end the night chatting with Nicky again. HIGHLY recommend

  • This was our first time visiting the Saloon! The atmosphere and food was out of this world. My favorite was the lamb chops. Perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was such an amazing vibe. It was if we were transported back to the late 1800s. We were unsure how the parking situation was going to be but they have a parking lot that is specifically for the Saloon. Nicky, Greg, and Sal were extremely accommodating and were so friendly and helpful! Overall an amazing experience and we will definitely be back!
